Original Last Saturday in London Plans:
- go on a run
- get money out of ATM so that we could...
- get to Portobello Market before the crowds
- buy souvenirs for family/friends
- make out like a bandit
- work on some homework that's due at midnight
- go to the British Museum
- get crepes from Hampstead Creperie
- finish any leftover homework
- blog to catch up on Stratford upon Avon trip
- skype Sean
Well, who'd have thunk...
Things pretty much went according to plans!
Did I find a pair of Birkenstock sandals for only 10 pounds?
Oh yeah.
Do they hurt like the Dickens?
Oh yeah.
Just learned you have to "break them in."
Darn it.
After homework...
(which actually turned into an earlier-than-planned Skype conversation with Sean - oh goody!)
We headed to the British Museum....
hello Rosetta stone. thanks for making translation of Egyptian hieroglyphs possible.
reading room was closed for the year. that's okay. who needs a "room" to actually read?
girl's night with Cleopatra? yes please!
dum dum want gum gum?
Ellie makes a good dum dum. She's got the lips down and everything.
Now, let's get the "crepe" out of here and get some dinner!
(hehe. Elly - other elly, obviously - has been grading my puns as of late. On a scale of 1-10 this "crepe/crap" pun got me a 7. Don't worry, I'm getting better.)
I don't feel so bad about Elly (standing next to me) giving me a 7 for my crepe pun after seeing/posting this photo of her.
And she thinks MY puns are CHEESY.... gosh...
As we ate our crepes and gazed out over this view
I thought to myself,
"Well, butter my butt-cheeks and call me a biscuit - I don't think life gets better than this!"
(footnote: the butt-cheek buttering line was stolen from this Little Miss Sassy Pants...)
Well - it got better.
On the way home, we were going to switch tube lines at King's Cross Station when it dawned on us...
We hadn't been to platform 9 3/4 yet!
So, we fixed that problem.
(The new problem: any time Cali tries to be funny in pictures she just ends up looking like a constipated baby.
Bah-humbug.)
And then we found out the small little grocery store by the tube stop had a sale on Corners.
So I bought some. And by some I mean 8.
(Corners are the most divine Greek yogurt with yummy mix-ins).
Yup. Sometimes life really does give you lemonade.
And sometimes the lemonade is so good and your days are so funny...
that you literally split your pants.

that you literally split your pants.
Literally.
