Up Close and Personal...

Today was exciting...  I lost some elements of my virginity!

AH! Right?

Stay tuned. I will explain.

First of all, remember how I just learned how to use the "Macro" setting on my camera?

Here's an "up close and personal" montage of my day in London:

We spent the afternoon at Portebello Road.

Remember the pan of chicken I told you was on the to-do list?

Yup. It was grand. And super filling (which is code for I saved half of mine and it's going to be leftovers tomorrow).

Addicted to life in the "zoom," I went a little wild.

Isn't it wonderful how beautiful the world looks up close?

As I came to pay more attention to the "little things," I found myself even more excited to see the world around me and to be a part of it.

Anyone seen the movie "Yes Man?"

Jim Carrey?

Repulsive humor?

Ringin a bell?

I do not, in any way, endorse that film; however, in the movie there's a scene where they go "photo jogging."

That's where you take photos - while jogging.

Moral of the story: you don't get great pictures - but again - you find yourself excited to run another step and to find that next "Kodak" moment. Here's a few of mine. Forgive the blurriness!

That's what she gets for running in front of me! Silly Ellie.

Don't worry - we ran into some other people from our study abroad there. So, these next few are not me being a creeper to some strangers in the park.... in case you doubted me.

Sadly, this is the best photo I could get of the Peter Pan statue...

Two boys playing soccer with a coke can - Precious, right?

Not that great of pictures, but -

CONGRATS! You just ran through Hyde Park with me!

Today was just full of such beauty - I wanted to share it with you.

Oh.

And I wanted to share with you this story:

So we were on our way to here...

with some of these people...

where this man was our tour guide...

And where we spotted this man on stage...

(This is Him up close - recognize him now?!)

Oh yes, why hello Geoffrey from "The Fresh Prince of BelAir."

Anywho,

So we're on our way to the Globe, and we get off the Tube.

It had been a rainy morning and we were running a little late, so I didn't immediately notice that there were 4 very loud and rambunctious London men coming toward us.

When I finally looked up and started paying attention, I realized that they were not the sort to run into on the street (although it was a good thing that it was broad daylight).

They came at us and started cat calling and saying things like, "Hey ladies, want some STDs?" I've got Chlamydia! Want some HIV?"

I'm more than positive they were drunk - at 9 in the morning.

Before I know it, they're passing us, saying these things and one of them gets closer to me, pulls down his pants and waves himself at me.

Yup. His Ding-dong.

Then they walked away laughing. I'm sure my face reflected my shock.

I have lost my virgin eyes, folks.

My first thought after the encounter: Oh no! That means Sean won't be the first one I see!

Yup. I'm a dork.

I have seen far too much nakedness since I got here...

But it did get me thinking, what does that guy look like "up close and personal?"

(And I don't mean physically)

Like, what is his family like?

Does he have parents that love him and wonder where he goes or what he's doing?

Does he have good mentors in his life?
Does he have good friends to encourage him to be a better person?

I'm so grateful that I've been given a caring and protective family...

Wonderful mentors who have shown me, by example, how to truly find happiness...

An inspiring and wonderful fiance that supports me and motivates me to do and be better...

and a wonderful friend who is there to laugh after this way too "up close and personal" flashing experience...

and to always have an available shoulder to cry on.

Love you all.
